Rooms

What time is guaranteed check in?

Our guaranteed check in time is 4pm, however, every guest is welcome to explore our resort while we store your luggage until the room is ready.

What time is checkout?

Our check out time is 11am. We encourage our guests to depart from the room, store the luggage, and continue to enjoy the resort until the very last moment.

Daily Housekeeping Service

For our guests’ safety, we’ve eliminated a portion of the touch-points in our guest rooms. Additional housekeeping services may be requested and coordinated with our associates upon check-in. Special requests for additional toiletries are available via a no-touch basket delivery service. Delivery time may also be specified.

For your comfort we offer the opportunity to decline housekeeping service at any point during your stay.

Enhanced Check-Out Cleaning Process

Rooms are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected upon departure.

Our housekeeping departments will leverage partnerships with our national vendors on best cleaning practices, tools, and supplies.

Used linen is folded and bagged in each guest room (staff never shakes towels or sheets in the room as this practice releases particles into the air).

Ecolab Peroxide Multi-Surface Cleaner Chemical is utilized for sanitation on all hard / non-porous surfaces.

Increased attention to thorough vacuuming of rugs and sanitation of floors, including low-traffic and hard-to-reach surfaces.

Resort

How much is parking? Is parking valet or self-park?

Kona Kai offers self-parking at a daily price of $39 with unlimited ins and outs.

What is the resort fee? How much does it cost? What does it cover?

Our Resort Fee is $39 per night plus tax. This Resort Fee covers access to all amenities on property such as: Wi-Fi, complimentary ride on our cruiser bikes, daily fitness classes, private beach access, nightly bonfires, pool towel service, fitness center, electric vehicle charging station, personal protective equipment, sanitization stations throughout the resort.

How much is the incidental hold?

The hold for incidentals is $100 per day on your credit/debit card. This amount gets released at check out and takes roughly 3-5 business days for it to appear back onto your account.

Where is the Marina Office?

The Marina Office is located by the Wellness Center and by the entrance of A-F Dock

Is there shuttle service for the guests?

We do not have a shuttle service but can arrange transportation via taxi upon request. We also encourage Uber/Lyft as they are very common in San Diego.

Can we smoke in the rooms/ on property?

Kona Kai is considered a non-smoking property. Patio smoking is prohibited. For all smoking options, across the street at Shoreline Park is the closest location. A smoking charge will in effect if a guest smokes in their room.

Are service animals allowed in the pool?

As much as our resort is pet friendly, Fido unfortunately is not allowed in the pool area. Service animals are welcome throughout with identification. Per ADA, emotional support animals are not considered service animals.

Are animals allowed on the beach?

In order to maintain a clean environment for all guests we do ask that pets are kept off of the beach area. We have many walking paths around the resort, and Skyline park across from the resort available to walk your pet.

How close are you from the airport?

We are less than 10 minutes away from the airport!

Is your beach swimming accessible?

Our private beach does not provide access to the water as it is host to the Kona Kai Marina. This beach area is more so enjoyed lounging, walk, and sit by the fire pits and enjoy smores!
