This Fourth of July, treat yourself and your loved ones with a Shelter Island getaway in the heart of San Diego. Spend the long weekend by one of our two waterfront pools, participate in our patriotic programming, watch San Diego’s iconic Big Bay Boom from the resort, or simply relax on our private stretch of sand on the Kona Kai beach.
Big Bay Boom
The Big Bay Boom fireworks show is displayed from four barges on the San Diego Bay on July 4, at 9:00pm. The Shelter Island barge is located directly outside of our resort, so be sure to bring your lawn chairs, friends, or rent a boat to watch from the water.
Festive Fun
Join us as we celebrate the red, white, and blue all weekend long. Soak up the sun at our waterfront pools for a patriotic time with poolside DJs, a delicious barbecue menu with brats and brews along with games and giveaways at Kona Kai San Diego. Flags, balloons and other decorations will be present throughout our resort to pay tribute to our freedom.

Grab your cowboy boots and join us for a fun line dancing class to commemorate the red, white and blue. Our very own, Ashley Mathews, will be teaching a step-by-step class so you can put your line dancing skills to the test. Spaces are limited so be sure to sign up now.

Take advantage of our private beach overlooking the marina while enjoying one of our tasty s’mores kits at our fire pits. We’ll provide you with all your s’mores essentials—a pack of crunchy graham crackers, soft marshmallows, rich chocolate, and roasting sticks for up to four people.

Relish the salty air and San Diego Bay breezes in Island-inspired luxury at Kona Kai. Beach chic mixed with modern sophistication sets the stage at your Shelter Island oasis this Fourth of July weekend.

Don’t just lounge poolside, lounge in luxury. With waterfront views, flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi, bottled water, chips, cookies, and towels, you’ll never want to leave your personal cabana.
